Brand new players at their first clinic to all of the Game7 regulars, everyone seemed like they were having a great time and learning important skills.

Game7's Harris Wichard has made D3Hoops.com's weekly honor roll of top performers!

Here's what they had to say;

Harris Wichard
Wichard averaged 23.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Hawks. He scored 22 points in New Paltz's 83-70 home-opening win over Vassar and completed the double-double with 10 rebounds. Wichard had a career-high-tying 27 points in a 75-58 win over previously unbeaten Fredonia State in the SUNYAC opener for both teams and added 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the week. He finished out his week with a 21-point effort in an 89-83
setback against No. 16 Buffalo State, adding six boards and five assists to his line.

Pretty SWEET! Nice to see all of Harris' hard work and dedication paying off and being recognized.

Game7 Hofstra Clinic

Marc Von Essen and the staff of Game7 Sports will be hosting a youth basketball clinic for grades 3 - 8 prior to the Hofstra Men's Basketball vs. Iona game on December 29, 2011.

Tickets are $8 for clinic participants and $6 for all guests. All clinic participants will receive a free t-shirt. Everyone will receive a ticket to the Hofstra Basketball game immediately following the clinic.

Date: Thursday, December 29, 2011

Location: Hofstra Physical Education Center (building adjacent to the Mack Sports Complex)

Cost: $8 for clinic participants, $6 for all guests

Registration: 5:30pm

Clinic: 5:45pm - 6:30pm

Hofstra Game: 7:00pm

There is a maximum number of 100 participants in this clinic. Tickets must be purchased by Friday, December 9, 2011. Tickets are subject to availability.

Carrem Gay, who many Game7 girls will remember from the Rockville Centre camp last summer, is currently playing professionally overseas in France.

Carrem's TMB (Toulouse Metropole Basket ) team is leading their league with an impressive 8-3 record. Carrem is more than doing her part scoring 12.1 points a game (2nd on her team 20th in the league) in addition to averaging 8 rebounds a game.

The Game7 family wishes Carrem continued success this season and in everything she does! Carrem is another great example of where the game of basketball can take you when combined with hard work and dedication!

Anna Mclean is a 6'2" center who attended Freeport High School where she was a Four year member of the varsity basketball team...Served as a captain her junior and senior seasons...Named All-County and team MVP as a sophomore...Earned first team All-County, All-State, and All-Long Island honors as a junior and senior, in addition to being named team MVP.

AS A JUNIOR (2007-08):Appeared in all of Iona's 34 contests, starting in all but one... Selected to the All-MAAC Second Team and was a two-time MAAC Player of the Week... Took over as Iona's all-time blocks leader... Finished 6th in field goal percentage (.526) and free throw attempts (154) in the program's single season record book... This year Game7 has put together a pretty amazing line-up of talented and experienced players to train and coach at the Rockville Centre girls camp. It's always great for aspiring players to learn from young women who are hard working, accomplished and have been successful.

One of the coaches at this years camp will be Carrem Gay.

Carrem Gay played for Bob Mackey at Christ The King in Middle Village Queens with Lorin Dixon, Nakeja Kelly, Tina Charles, and Sky Lindsay where she won the 2005 New York State Class AA Federation Championship averaging 18.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, 5.3 blocks and 4.7 assists in her senior season. She was selected New York State Miss Basketball as well as a McDonald's All American.

Carrem went on to play four years at Duke University where she had a great career in spite of overcoming adversity due to injury.

Carrem closed out her time at Duke with a total of 846 career points ... started 73 out of 128 career games ... finished her four years with a 51.6 field goal percentage ... had left shoulder surgery immediately after her freshman year and right shoulder surgery following her sophomore season ... has totaled 31 career charges taken, 13 of which came in her senior season ... her 13 charges taken led the Blue Devils ... finished her Duke career with 35 games with double-figure scoring and 10 double-doubles ... led Duke to a 109-19 overall and 45-7 ACC mark in four years ... led Duke to the NCAA Championship game as a freshman, the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 as a sophomore and junior and the NCAA Tournament second round as a senior.

Carrem was signed to a training camp contract in 2009 by the Connecticut Sun. In 2009-10 she played first for Ramat Hen in Israel and then Sdent Sierre in Switzerland where she won two cup games and the league Championship. Most recently she played the 2010-11 season for Aix-en-Provence in France.

It's a wonderful and rare opportunity for kids to be able to work with someone that's achieved such great success and is as talented, driven and hardworking as Carrem Gay.

GAME7 Summer 2011 BOOT CAMP will meet next week from MONDAY July 25th - THURSDAY July 28th at the St. Agnes gym (Clinton Avenue, Rockville Centre 11570).

Grades 5-8 (as of 9/11) will meet from 5:30-7:30pm
Grades 9-12 (as of 9/11) will meet from 7:30-9:30pm

As a G7 AAU player you are eligible to attend BOOT CAMP for 1/2 price!

Great job this weekend by the Game7 Sixth Grade Girls team! The girls put together four straight convincing wins with their intensity never letting up. The theme this tournament was stay focused and finish and that is exactly what the team did.

Great way to wrap up the AAU season for the Sixth Grade team! WATCH OUT for them this July and August in Summer League!

Game 7 9th Grade Girls Win The Great Adirondack Shootout!

  Game 7 opened up against the Saranac Cardinals. Game 7 came out strong and opened up a 38 - 11 lead at the half. They didn't let up in the 2nd half to cruise to a 63 - 14 win.
  Game 7 then played the Northern Xpress who were just totally outmatched. Game 7 started out with a 36 - 0 lead at the half and later opened up a 50 - 0 lead before pulling away to 62 - 6 win.
  Game 7 played the FM Starz. The Starz played tough in the first half and stayed close as they trailed Game 7 at the half 29 - 21. Game 7 exploded in the 2nd half and pulled away to a 65 - 27 win.
  Game 7 played the Connecticut Mavericks for the championship of the Great Adirondack Shootout. Game 7 started out slow taking a 4 - 2 lead 5 minutes into the game. Game 7 then started to move away opening a 28 - 11 lead at the half. Game 7 then opened the gap more cruising to a 52 - 27 win to take The Great Adirondack Shootout.

"Duke, the No. 2 seed in the Philadelphia Regional, had all 11 players get at least 11 minutes in the first-round romp against Tennessee-Martin. Yet the minutes don't come only in blowouts; Duke had at least eight players in double-figure minutes in all seven games decided by six or fewer points.
"Our depth is one of the things that coming into the tournament you need to have if you want to make a long run," Christmas said. "We're all confident that any player can come in and make an impact, whether it is passing, rebounding and shooting."
Tenth-seeded Marist (31-2) has some similar balance with nine players averaging at least 10 minutes. But in Saturday's 74-64 first-round win against Iowa State, the Red Foxes' starters played at least 32 minutes while none of the five bench players managed more than seven.
"We see people that are tired and we can put some other people in who can play," Marist coach Brian Giorgis said. "Maybe not at the caliber of theirs, but they can go in and play quality minutes if we get in foul trouble or if people need rest. The thing is (the Blue Devils) just bring them in waves.""

Marc, Emma and some of last summer's Game7 campers

Many Game7 campers from last summer's Rockville Center camp had a lot of fun working with Emma O'Connor. Emma worked very hard as a trainer at the camp and helped many of the girls improve their post skills. Emma is going to the NCAA tournament as a freshman on a very good Red Foxes team! Marist won the MAAC Tournament and is ranked 17th in the nation! Marist will face Iowa State in the first round 11:00am Saturday March 19th in Durham NC! The game will be part of the coverage seen on ESPN2 so be sure to check it out!

The Red Foxes received more reason to be enthusiastic on Tuesday, when the newest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll ranked them 17th in the country; Monday's latest Associated Press Top 25 poll had them 19th. Both rankings are Marist's highest in program history in the respective polls.

Marist also boasts the top defense in the county, allowing 48.6 points a game. The Red Foxes' program-best 26 straight victories is also the country's longest active winning streak.

Anna McLean

Just in case anyone is wondering where hard work, determination, mental toughness and a positive attitude can get you, check out these fantastic pics of Game7's Anna McLean in her first professional season in the very tough Polish league!

Anna played for Freeport High School, went on to play for Iona and is now playing in Poland professionally for Utex Row Rybnik.

Anna helped out this past summer at the Game7 Rockville Center camp and more recently at the Game7 Winter Boot Camp.

Go hard, get good grades, work on your game, stay tough and focused. This game can take you places you may have never even thought about!
